DATA WAREHOUSING

By akhil DaMoDaRaN

The process of analyzing production data in order to unearth critical business intelligence is known as decision support system.

William.h.Inman promoted the concept of data warehousing in order to separate the operating system from DSS in order to extract data necessary for business intelligence without impacting mission critical processing system. After the release of this concept there was a huge demand of data warehousing in the market.

what drives the popularity of data warehousing is the need for executives and business analysts to gain competitive advantage from analyzing trends and patterns hidden within the mountain of data that companies generates in their day to day transaction.DATA WAREHOUSING can either be a single or distributed specialized database management system (DBMS).The main advantage of a data warehousing is that it provides executives with up to date data that can be queried for reporting and analyzing in order to assist them in making strategic decisions about the operation of their organisation. For specific field information system we use data mart which is very easy to build and more effective for specific information compared to wide data warehousing. web enabled data warehousing involves a combination of HTML,XML,HTTP and MOBILE COMPONENT based technologies.
